Hawker’s Creek flows south, bisecting North Verulam on its way to Sturgeon Lake and is classed as a provincially significant wetland…. It is also quite beautiful, though practically all of it is privately owned. It is named for Sidney Hawker who operated a shingle mill at its mouth in the mid nineteenth century.
