Manilla Cabbage Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 28 oz can tomatoes
  • 15 oz can tomato soup
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 cups diced raw potatoes
  • 1 cup diced raw carrots
  • 6 to 7 cups coarsely cut cabbage
  • 1/2 tsp parsley flakes
  • Dash paprika

Directions

  • In a large soup pot, put the first 3 ingredients.
  • Stir until the meat is seared: pour off grease.
  • Add other ingredients, except cabbage; simmer for 1 hour, uncovered.
  • Add cabbage and simmer, coverted, for 1 hour.
  • If too thick, add more water.
  • This may be frozen for later use.
