Belle & Tilly Abbott’s Gem Gems

From 1913 to 1958, the Abbott Sisters operated Maryboro as a tourist lodge. Guests stayed in cabins on-site and upstairs in the main building. Visitors could stop by for a meal or afternoon tea—a long-standing tradition that the Abbotts enthusiastically adopted, and that the Museum carries on to this day. While the Abbotts operated Maryboro Lodge, they managed to take care of their guests without a modern kitchen or running water.
