University Question, 1860

John Langton, a prominent gentleman and politician who settled at Blythe on the north arm of Sturgeon Lake in 1833, went on to become Canada’s First Auditor General and vice-chancellor of the University of Toronto. This 1860 publication contains the statement he gave before the legislative assembly defending the University against critics wanting to have its funding redistributed to include more institutions representing other denominations.
