Winter Games

The Winter Games were always a popular event in Fenelon Falls. On one occasion, participants could test their strength by pulling a 1942 fire truck once used by the Fenelon Falls Fire Department and later owned by Al Graham. Shown here in the centre is Al Finney joining with other Winter Games participants in dragging the vintage fire engine along by rope.

Car on Snowy Road

This 1930s-vintage vehicle cautiously makes its way along a snow-covered road; the drifts on either side are about as high as a typical rock cutting through the Canadian Shield.

Standing in Front of Log House

An unidentified man poses adjacent to the front door of a log house somewhere in Fenelon Township during the winter months. Many of the log homes constructed by settlers in the mid-to-late 19th Century had long lives, lasting into the 1920s and even 1930s. Though some remained in continuous use as houses, others were converted into stables or storage sheds.
