Until a fire reduced it to ruins in 1925, the Kirkfield Inn was one of the largest and most luxurious options travellers along the Portage Road had when looking for a place to stay. Tudoresque in architecture, it is reminiscent of similar styles used for pubs and inns in the British Isles.
