GTR Station, Victoria Road

Grand Trunk Railway Station, Victoria Road, 1914. The Grand Trunk Railway absorbed the Midland Railway of Canada and its subsidiaries in 1893. One of those subsidiaries was the Toronto & Nipissing Railway, which linked the Gooderham & Worts Distilleries in Toronto with the village of Coboconk. Among its stations was this simple board-and-batten structure in Victoria Road, a short distance northeast of Kirkfield. Note the boxcar on the passing track.

The floating bridge over Chemong Lake is framed in this view by a picturesque cedar-rail fence in the foreground, and a large drumlin faintly visible on the distant horizon.

Farmer and Dogs

Two young dogs sit obediently in a snowy barnyard on this overcast day at some point in the 1940s. Note the well-kept barns and cedar-rail fence framing a large pile of what appears to be straw.
