- Hotel and Tavern Keeper 1871 (Approx.) - 1872 (Approx.)
William Boynton is listed as a tavern keeper in Lovell’s Province of Ontario Directory for 1871 and as a “hotel” owner in D&B for 1871 and 1872. Oddly, he is not listed in the 1871 Census. Boynton may have only been a manager of a business rather than the owner. To date the hotel he was keeper of is unidentified, but the Dominion Hotel and the Quebec & Ottawa House were certainly in operation during these years.
36 Variant spelling: Boyton.
37 There is a “George Boyce” listed as a 39 year-old Ontario-born “tavern keeper” in Fenelon Township, but there appears to be no connection (at least in the directories).
