W. Davey & Sons

Davey was from Bobcaygeon. He purchased the whole contents of two stores (one dry goods, the other groceries, boots and shoes) “run for some time past by the Fenelon Falls Syndicate , and is now busy with a staff of assistants taking stock” (FFG 31 Jan 1896; 5). Both stores opened soon afterwards. The business disappears from D&B by September 1901.

According to his obituary he left the village about 1905 to farm near Lindsay, and then moved to Olds, Alberta, where his sons conducted business. He died in Vancouver on March 31st, 1922 [FFPL 22.6]. His family remained in Olds where one of his grandsons died in 1936 [FFPL 36-22].
