The Flying Tinker

“The Flying Tinker was a man well known to all older folk, hereabouts; he was as much a part of pioneer life as the pans he mended. A traveling handy man he was for so many years known as the Flying Tinker that his real name was forgotten; he traveled on foot carrying in his pack the tools of his trade, that of a tinker. He performed minor tasks for the busy housewife. He sharpened her scissors, mended the milk tin pans and cooking kettles and repaired numerous other small articles and for his work he received a few pennies. He traveled far and near and slept wherever night overtook him.”
