R.J. (Robert) Frost [ 1870 (Approx.) - ]

R.J. Frost was from Orillia . He purchased the jewellry business of J.A. Todd and opened a store in the Jordan Block directly opposite the Post Office in June of 1889 [FFG 14 June 1889; 5]. He advertised a full stock of watches, clocks and other articles. The Gazette recorded that Frost left the Falls on the 27th of April, 1891 for Vancouver “having previously disposed of his business as watchmaker to Mr. Alex Moore, who succeeds him… in the McArthur Block” [FFG 1 May 1891; 4].

This is no doubt the family of Leslie Frost (1895-1973) the former Premier of Ontario. Frost’s father, William Sword Frost, was also a jeweler [Graham; 3].
