Remi Turcot

Very little is known about Turcot as his business appears to have lasted only a few years. His name appears in the directories by 1875 and disappears after 1877. There are only two references to him in the Canadian Post: “Mr. Turcott is said to have rented the remaining store in McArthur’s Block, which is not quite finished…” [CP 1 Dec 1876: 1]. “The directors [of the Mechanics’ Institute] have rented suitable premises — Mr. Begin’s, lately occupied by Mr. Turcotte…” [CP 8 Nov 1878; 3]. Certainly his store had closed by this date.
