Fawcett is listed in the Province of Ontario Gazetteer and Directory for 1869 as the proprietor of a lath factory. He also appears in the 1871 Census as “Michael Fawcette”, a 52 year-old, Irish born, foreman. In Lovell’s Province of Ontario Directory (1871) “Michael Fawcet” is listed simply as a labourer. His career in the mills must have come to an end, as he vanishes from the record after that.
