LANSFIELD, Edward, [Sr.?], [1852?]-1901 Trucking & Carting; Buses & Busing [1885? - 1901] Although listed as a 40 year-old “mail carrier” in the 1891 Census, Edward Lansfield ran a ʺfreight and carting” business, obviously working on contract for the local Post office. He also appeared regularly in the Village Council and School Board accounts where he was paid to do work for each organization. When he died in Fenelon Falls on October 10, 1901, he was aged ʺ49 years and [two] monthsʺ. The Funeral was at “8 am on Saturday in the Roman Catholic Church; thence to the cemetery in Verulam” [FFPL 01.23] where he was buried in the St. Aloysius Cemetery [SARCC; ref. 45]. Lansfield’s business was sold later that year: “The horses, vehicles and carting business of the late Edward Lansfield were purchased this week by Mr. Robert Magee, who ran his first trip to the station yesterday.
