John Moffat [ 1836 (Approx.) - ]

In June of 1883 John Moffat opened a small bakery and grocery store in “the old stand” after the dissolution of his partnership with Joseph McFarland [FFG 9 June 1883; 2]. Moffat sold his grocery and baking business upon his retirement in April of 1885, to the Barrett Brothers of Lindsay [FFG 18 April 1885; 2].

561 Variant spelling: Moffatt. Moffat is described as a 45 year-old Scottish Presbyterian Merchant in the 1881 Census of the Village.
