H. [Hugh or Henry] Campbell

  • Tailor 1871 (Approx.)
  • Tailor 1874 (Approx.) - 1879 (Approx.)

In the 1871 Census, Hugh Campbell is listed as a 45 year-old Scottish tailor living in Eldon Township. By September 1871 an H. Campbell is recorded in D&B as a Fenelon Falls resident. This may be the same tailor. In either case, H. Campbell vanishes from the record by January 1872. By January 1874, a Henry Campbell had set up a tailoring shop in the village, a business that remained in operation for the rest of the decade. If the records are correct we are dealing with two different men. Nonetheless it is tempting to conclude that the same Campbell was operating a shop in the village from 1871 to 1879.

201 Henry Campbell is listed in D&B for all of 1878, and has disappeared by 1880. The volume for 1879 has not been located to date.
