- Axe-Maker 1864 (Approx.) - 1866 (Approx.)
Two directories from the 1860s record an F. Belch as an axe maker in Fenelon Falls. Interestingly there is a Francis Belch listed in the 1871 Census as a 35 year-old, Ontario-born blacksmith working in Fenelon Township, also of Irish descent. If it is the same man, he appears to have left the village by 1871. Belch was certainly dead by 1883 as his widow married Richard Jackson on January 15th 1883 [FFG 20 Jan 1883; 2].
