Benson Whytall must have worked briefly in the village in the mid-1860s as his name only appears in Fuller’s Counties of Peterborough and Victoria directory. Afterwards there was a Benson Whytall listed in the 1871 Census as a 61 year-old, English-born farmer in Verulam township. He died on February 25th, 1883, at the age of 72, and was buried in the Fenelon Falls Cemetery.
