Log House near Blythe.The Changing Face of the Kawarthas depicts the experience of natives, farm families, shantymen, river drivers, gentry and public personalities throughout the nineteenth century. Written as a PhD thesis at McGill University, it is in the process of being converted into illustrated books. It show how natives and settlers recreated the landscape of the Kawarthas including: colour maps, the region before the waves of immigrants began, treaties, surveying, land granting, agricultural settlement, families farms, forest industries, the development of the Trent-Severn Waterway, tourism and leisure.
